Our team works closely with Engineers and Materials Scientists in order to introduce data driven solutions to their problems. Contemporary research has applied novel materials, as well as unique manufacturing and processing routes to achieve end products of spectacular qualities and properties.

However, the exposure potential and safety of used materials remains clouded by uncertainty in many cases. IRES is committed to applying state-of-the-art solutions towards accurate occupational risk evaluation of novel processes, facilitating safe innovation. We meticulously examine partner needs to provide case-by-case, tailored recommendations towards safer processes.

IRES based on its expertise is undertaking the predictive modelling, simulation and AI analytics. Moreover, is leading the Tasks related with sustainability issues, including LCA and LCC, as well as nano-safety assessment and toxicity concerning the developed materials.

IRES is mainly involved in the creation of i-CHADA that will be developed as a web platform and the creation of Nanoindentation data analysis tools, including machine learning and protocols. Also, IRES will assist in the development of Industrial case-specific application ontologies and metadata schema, in close collaboration with the other respective tasks. Finally, IRES will create Harmonized protocol for phase-separated compositional and nanomechanical characterisation data.

OpenModel provides an integrated open access material modelling platform designed to be easily integrated with, and usable by, any existing and future EU platforms, e.g., Open Translation Environments (OTE), Materials Modelling Market Places (MMMP), Innovation Test Beds (ITB), and Business Decision Support Systems (BDSS). Furthermore, OpenModel integrates with Life Cycle Analysis as well as the "plug and produce" and characterization open innovation environments to enable better integration of characterization and processing into materials modelling orkflows.

In the context of imPURE, IRES in line with its expertise, will lead tasks related with safety & recycling, in-line monitoring (zero defect module) and qualification of operators for the repurposed production. In addition, IRES will lead tasks regarding Data analysis by implementing Data Management Plan (DMP) in combination with Machine learning (ML) analysis.

IRES is co-leading the LCA/LCCA activities in WP3, utilising commercial software (SimaPRO) and tools to evaluate the environmental impacts of the novel Waste2Fresh system and compare results with conventional wastewater treatment technologies. IRES/VER will additionally lead the validation of the environmental sustainability and techno-economic performance of the Waste2Fresh system.

IRES brings domain expertise in both Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Nanosafety fields. In conjunction with our experience in Data Science and Data Management, our project team will be able to contribute to the domain ontologies work package. Additionally, IRES can support the cooperation work package through its links to EMMC and EMCC. Finally, IRES is a member of the OYSTER project consortium, which could potentially provide a demonstrator for the domain of Material Characterisation. IRES is dealing with environmental and cost impact, standardization and regulations. Risk assessment and Safe-by-Design Processes applied within the project is being evaluated in terms of occupational health & safety risks, providing casespecific recommendations, if required. The release of nanoparticles from nanocomposites is being investigated as an additional exposure scheme. Hazard identification procedures and exposure assessment campaigns is enabling the development of dedicated guidelines towards accomplishing Safer-by-Design Cabo4Power technologies. Advancement in Standardization for Health and Safety aspects of nanomaterials (e.g. developments in ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies) is being monitored, adapting and implementing advances achieved within the nanosafety assessment of Carbo4Power. Repair3D aims at the development of innovative reclamation and repurposing routes for end‐of‐life plastic and carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) components. IRES is WP leader on Life Cycle Assessment and Cost Evaluation and task leader on Preparation & implementation of the Data Management Plan (DMP) and on Quality and risk management.

IRES is having an active role in the LightMe Ecosystem, regarding the efficient data management and processing flow, focusing not only on maximizing data sharing and usage among stakeholders, but also ensuring data and metadata privacy and integrity. We start our involvement at very early stages of the project since we had to handle a big amount of data planning all process controls, flows and data mapping. Thus, IRES is the WP Leader of work package 3, in which the collection of data to the objectives of the project and the establishment of an open innovation environment is enable future access, integration and harmonization of the produced data

IRES contribute to the integration of the environmental and health issues using Life Cycle Assessment and Safe-by-Design approaches, supporting ECOMATTERS. The impacts and the cost benefits is being evaluated at each step of the project in order to result in a new, low-cost (competitive) and green technology reflected by development of DECOAT tool. A risk assessment of possible market drawbacks related to the developed technologies and products is being conducted, to guarantee the competiveness of the final outcomes. Finally, a data management methodology is being established by handling the produced data of the characterization, the testing and the design activities and by their incorporation in an access database, which is being developed by IRES.

IRES is leading the sustainability assessment and standardization processes in order to incorporate any environmental and health issues that may arise during M3DLoC, into the BioMEMS manufacturing pilot line. The risk management framework that will be established will allow for the development of effective guidelines for the production, handling and application of the new M3DLoC devices.

Focus on handling and managing data for establishment of an Open Innovation Environment, development of business plan, dedicated business models, targeted Life Cycle Cost Analysis of developed techniques within the project and support of protocols development are the main tasks of IRES in the OYSTER project, who also leads Data Management Ontology activities.

The highlight of these projects gas his graduation thesis where he worked on a techno-economic comparative study among solar, geothermal and industrial waste heating systems, integrated to district heating, using thermochemical energy storage. Currently he is expanding his knowledge on Life Cycle Assessment and Costing for future sustainable solutions.
